The Sermon on the Mount: Knowing and Being Known
Date: September 1, 2024 / Preacher: Rev Joshua Mikelson
We continue our focused sermon series on the Sermon on the Mount. The sermon is entitled “Knowing and Being Known”, and the texts for the sermon are Matthew 7:21-23 and Philippians 3:1-11.
As Christians, we spend a great deal of time reflecting on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is right and proper – they are the at the center of the Christian faith! However, Jesus also has a great deal to teach us about how we live in the here and now as His disciples. The greatest example of Jesus’ teaching is found in his Sermon on the Mount, in which he teaches and equips all of us to live as Gospelized people – people whose lives are fully shaped, defined, and guided by the Good News of Jesus Christ. Throughout this series, we will see that even though it is often overlooked by the church and treated as irrelevant for the present time, nothing could be further from the truth! The Sermon on the Mount transcends our usual divisions, speaks to the entirety of the Christian life, and calls every believer into the way of Jesus Christ. Please join us for this series as we all learn more about the Gospelized life!
